Six Kinships (六親) — Relationships in Saju

How to read relationships with parents, siblings, spouse, and children from the Saju chart.

"How to Read Family Relationships in Your Saju" (5 posts)

Your saju isn't just about you.

Parents, spouse, children, siblings —

all of them are encoded in those eight characters.

This is called Six Relatives (六親).

By looking at which Ten Gods represent which family members,

and whether those positions are clashed, combined, or voided,

you can read the bonds, separations, and conflicts in your family relationships.

🧵 (1/5)

Spouse — 正財 vs 正官

A man's wife = 正財 (Proper Wealth)

A woman's husband = 正官 (Proper Officer)

For men:

正財 is strong and stable → stable married life

正財 is clashed → hints at conflict or separation with spouse

正財 is absent → marriage comes late, or the romantic connection is weak

For women:

正官 is clear and pure → a good spouse connection

正官 and 偏官 are mixed together → complicated romantic entanglements

傷官 clashes 正官 → conflict with husband

🧵 (2/5)

Parents — 正印 and 偏財

Mother = 正印 (Proper Seal)

正印 is strong → solid maternal support, academic backing

正印 is clashed or overcome → conflict with mother, or early separation

Father = 偏財 (Indirect Wealth)

偏財 is strong → father is active and entrepreneurial

偏財 falls in a void (空亡) → connection with father is thin

If 偏財 is clashed in the Year Pillar:

there may have been conflict in your relationship with your father during childhood.

🧵 (3/5)

Children — 官星 and 食傷

A man's children = 官星 (正官 · 偏官)

正官 = daughters, 偏官 = sons (traditional interpretation)

A woman's children = 食傷 (食神 · 傷官)

食神 = daughters, 傷官 = sons (traditional interpretation)

A woman's 食傷 is weak → weak connection with children

傷官 is strong → children are intelligent but rebellious

When the child element appears in the Hour Pillar →

a structure that brings support and blessings from children in old age.

Wrap-up

Important notes when interpreting Six Relatives (六親):

① The absence of a Ten God does NOT mean the family member is absent

(even if not in the natal chart, they can arrive through major or annual luck cycles)

② A Six Relative in void (空亡) = that connection feels empty, or there is an early parting

③ A Six Relative that is clashed or punished = conflict or change with that family member

Standalone 1 — Husband Luck in a Woman's Saju

Conditions for strong husband luck in a woman's saju:

① 正官 is present in the natal chart

② 正官 is not clashed or overcome

③ 傷官 does not clash against 正官

In traditional saju studies, a woman's chart with strong 傷官

is described as "傷官見官" — seen as conflict with the husband.

But in a modern reading,

strong 傷官 in a woman = strong capability, eloquence, and independence.

Relationship challenges can be navigated through better communication.

Standalone 2 — Charts With Strong Parental Support vs. Without

Charts with strong parental support:

正印 is strong and stable

偏財 is not clashed or voided

The Year Pillar and Month Pillar have solid Seal energy (印星)

Charts with weak parental support:

Seal energy (印星) is clashed or in void

偏財 is weak or in void

The Month Pillar is punished (刑)

Even if parental support is weak → it can be recovered in the major luck cycles you build for yourself.

Standalone 3 — The Six Relative Palaces: Which Pillar Represents Which Family

The four pillars of a saju each govern a different domain of family.

Year Pillar (年柱) → grandparents, ancestral lineage

Month Pillar (月柱) → parents, siblings

Day Pillar (日柱) → spouse, self

Hour Pillar (時柱) → children, old age

If the spouse star (正財 · 正官) sits in the Hour Pillar →

marriage comes late; spouse blessings arrive in later life.

By looking at which pillar holds a clashed character,

you can identify tensions in that family relationship.
